U.S. Legislation FAQ

For our U.S. players:
PartyGaming has stopped taking wagers, or deposits intended for wagers, from our U.S. players due to legislation enacted by the United States Congress. For information about the impact this legislation will have on your ability to play on our sites, please read our FAQ for U.S. players.

1. Download and Installation

1.1. What do I need to do to join a game and start playing gammon online?
To play gammon online at PartyGammon.com, you'll need our free software application, which you can download simply and easily (see next question).
1.2. How do I download the PartyGammon.com application?
Downloading our software is easy. Just click on the 'Download' button on the left hand side of any page on the PartyGammon.com site. If you experience any difficulties when downloading, please contact PartyGammon.com's Customer Care team at info@partygammon.com, with specific information regarding your problem, and we will assist you as soon as possible.
1.3. I downloaded the software, but now I can't find it.
If you downloaded the software (PartyGammonSetup.exe) but forgot where you saved it, don't worry. Just go to Start-->Find-->File or Folders and type in PartygammonSetup.exe in the 'Named:' box. Once found, just double-click and join the party!
1.4. I installed PartyGammon.com software, but I can't hear any sounds.
Enabling sound for your games is easy. Simply follow these steps:
a) Log in using your PartyGammon.com account details.
b) In the PartyGammon.com lobby, select the 'Options' menu
c) Click on the 'Sounds On/Off' option and make sure that it is checked.
Please ensure that you have a valid sound card, and that your speakers are not set to mute.
1.5. I installed the software. Now where do I go to start playing?
Once you have downloaded the software, locate the PartyGammon.com icon (the 'MM' icon on your desktop) and click on it. You can also launch the PartyGammon.com application by clicking on the 'Start' button on the bottom left of your screen and searching for PartyGammon.com in the first menu that opens up. You will find 'PartyGammon' in the upper half of the menu. Just click on it, and then click on PartyGammon.com. The application will launch, allowing you to go to the Cashier, make a deposit, and start playing.
1.6. Do I need to go to the PartyGammon.com website each time I want to play?
No, you just have to click on the PartyGammon.com icon on your desktop (the 'MM' icon), it will automatically connect you so you can start playing.
1.7 What is a Firewall?
A firewall is simply a program or hardware device that filters the information coming through the Internet connection onto your system. It is a system designed to prevent unauthorized access to your computer or network. The primary function of a firewall is to let authorized traffic pass through, while the unauthorized traffic gets blocked.
1.8 How to configure a Firewall?
There are many firewalls out there. The most common firewalls are Windows XP Firewall, Norton, MacAfee, Zone Alarm and Black Ice. The graphical look of all these firewalls may be different, but the method of blocking or allowing access to an internet based application is the same.

1.9 Connecting to Partygammon.com after an upgrade
When there is an upgrade on Partygammon.com, the firewall sometimes fails to recognize the new version, and so may block the site. You just need to open your firewall and ensure that Party Software is allowed access.
1.10 Some common firewall terms
 
Port:
A port is a connection through which data is sent and received on the internet. A port may send/receive data in one direction at a time (simplex), or simultaneously in both directions (duplex).
Security:
This refers to techniques for ensuring that data stored in a computer cannot be read or compromised. Most security measures involve data encryption and passwords.
Packet:
A piece of a message transmitted over a packet-switching network.
IP Address:
An identifier for a computer or device on a TCP/IP network. Networks using the TCP/IP protocol route messages based on the IP address of the destination. The format of an IP address is a 32-bit nEffect of the request: - Making the firewall page widely and commonly understandable.

2. Getting started

2.1 What do I do to begin playing?
Download, install and open our free PartyGammon.com software, as described in the 'Downloading and installion' section of this FAQ. Select a game by clicking the appropriate tab in the Lobby, choose a table, and click 'Join Game'. When you take a seat, a registration form will appear on your screen. Fill out the registration form, and you're all set. You'll be playing backgammon within minutes.
2.2 I've never played backgammon before, but would like to learn. How do I start?
Please go to our 'How To Play' section it's packed with all the information, game rules and tips you'll need to master the game of backgammon.
2.3 Can I change my account/screen name?
If you have a real money account you can change your screen name. Please log in to your PartyAccount and select the 'My Profile' option to change your screen name. (You will be able to log in with your account name and screen name)
2.4 How do I change my password/email address?
From the lobby select 'My Account' and then the option 'Change Password' or 'Change/Validate email' (OR)
Log in to the PartyAccount website and select the 'Your profile' option, where the option to change password/email is visible.
2.5 How and why do I need to validate my email address?
To validate your email address select 'My Account' and then the option 'Change/Validate email'. Validating your email address will ensure that information regarding your account is sent and received by you alone and allows you can make deposit/cash outs faster.
2.6 I have changed my mailing address. How do I update the address in my account?
Please write to ts@pay-pro.com who will assist you in updating the mailing address.
2.7 Where do I check the games I have played and money I took to different games?
Log in to your PartyAccount and click on the 'My Account' tab. Click on 'Game & Transaction History' on the left hand side of the webpage .
2.8 How do I check the amounts I have deposited/cashed out or transferred?
Log in to your PartyAccount Select 'Game and Transaction History'.

3. The Cashier

3.1 What is Pay-Pro?
Pay-Pro is the financial service provider for Partygammon.com, and is also called the Cashier.
3.2 What is the Pay-Pro Cashier System?
The Pay-Pro Cashier System is a unique system designed for exclusive use by commonly owned gaming websites sharing a common game platform.
3.3 What is the credit card billing descriptor?
Charges for credit card transactions made at the Pay-Pro Cashier will appear on your credit card statement. The billing descriptor is yet to be finalized.
3.4 What is the minimum and maximum cashout amount?
The minimum and maximum cashout amount depends on the cashout option the player chooses.
3.5 How do I increase my credit limit or player status?
We have four tiers of player status, which govern how much you can add to your PartyAccount without further verification. The four tiers are as follows: New Players, VIP Players, VIP Gold Players and VIP Platinum Players. For details on what is required for each tier, and the credit limits available to each, please see 'Player Status' and 'Increasing Limits'.
3.6 Are there any costs or fees for using the Pay-Pro Cashier System?
No, the Pay-Pro Cashier System does not charge for using the system, and does not charge you for adding money to, or cashing out from, your PartyAccount. However, some fees may be applied to you by your credit card company or bank, depending on how you want to send us money, or how you want to receive it. If you request a cashout and want us to wire you the money, you will be charged a wire fee by your bank, and by us, depending on the amount of transfer. For more information on the various payment methods, and the fees associated with each one, see 'Deposit Options'.
3.7 What currencies does the Pay-Pro Cashier System transact in?
The Pay-Pro Cashier System transacts in US dollars only. However, we accept all foreign currencies but they will be converted into US dollars by your bank, at the bank's standard conversion rates.
3.8 What payment methods do you accept for me to add money to my PartyAccount?
We accept many different payment methods, including credit cards, wires, iGM-Pay and Fire Pay. For a complete list of accepted payment methods, please see 'Deposit Options'.
3.9 How do I add money to my PartyAccount?
Login to PartyAccount and click 'Cashier'. Then select 'Deposit'. On the next page, you will need to enter the amount you want to add and select which payment method you want to use. Each method will vary in procedure, transfer time to us, and fees. For a list of acceptable payment methods, transfer times and fees, see the 'Deposit Options'. Once we receive confirmation that the money has been transferred to us, the amount will be deposited into your Party Account and will be reflected in your PartyAccount balance. We will email you a receipt of every deposit and cashout you make. Please keep these receipts for your records. Each receipt will detail the amount charged, how it will appear on your bank statement, and any bonus amounts that were added to your PartyAccount balance, and for which promotion.
3.10 How do I cashout from my PartyAccount?
Log in to the Party gammon, go to the Cashier and select 'Cash Out'. Enter the amount you want to cash out and then click 'Submit.' The amount cashed out will be processed as follows: We may attempt to reverse out any charges made to your credit card or debit cards to the extent possible; and any remaining money will be paid to you by wire or via iGM-Pay, as you prefer, subject to the processing fees as listed at 'Cashout Options'. Upon completion of your request, we will email you a receipt containing a confirmation number and detailed information of the amount cashed out and how it is being sent to you. Please keep this receipt for your records.
3.11 Are there any restrictions before I can cash out?
Yes. For security reasons, we do not let you withdraw for eight hours from the time of your last deposit. You must wait at least eight hours from the time of your last deposit before cashing out money from your PartyAccount. Also, if you have received complimentary or bonus money into your PartyAccount, you must comply with any bonus restriction contained in the offer and/or with the PartyAccount terms and conditions. If you have not satisfied these restrictions, then you will not be able to withdraw any amount until you satisfy the bonus restrictions. For more information on a particular bonus or offers and any restrictions, please contact our Customer Care team.
3.12 Can I modify/cancel my cashout after I make it?
Depending on the status of your cashout, you may or may not be able to modify or cancel a cashout before it is actually approved or sent out. You may check this by going to the Cashier, clicking 'Deposits', and seeing if the cash out is still pending - in which case you will be able to cancel it and have the money automatically deposited back to your PartyAccount.
3.13 How long after I make a cash out will I receive my money?
Depending on which payment method you chose for us to send your money with, the time will vary. For a list of options of how to receive your money from us, transfer time and fees; please see 'Receiving Your Cashouts'.
3.14 Where is my cashout?
To receive a status update on your cashouts, please log in to the PartyAccount, click 'Cashier' , then 'Cashouts' and then 'Where's My Money?' to receive a report of each cashout and where it is.

4. Games

4.1 How many games can I play simultaneously?
A player can play up to four game/match/tournament tables at any given point in time.
4.2 How do I register or create a match?
In order to register for a match, a player needs to be logged in. After logging in, the player needs to double-click on a board in the list, and, once the opponent agrees the game begins. To create a match, the player needs to first select the stakes they wish to play, create a table and specify the length of the match. Once the table has been created, it will show up in the waiting list and other players will be able to view it.
4.3 What are the different types of Backgammon games offered?

  • Match or series play
  • Money or single play
  • Tournaments
4.4 Do we use the Doubling cube at PartyGammon.com?
We allow players to use the doubling cube at PartyGammon.com. The cube is used to increase the stakes during the game. The stakes can be multiplied by the values in the six sides of the cubes 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 (the original stake). When the Crawford rule is activated for a game, the doubling cube cannot be used by either of the players. This happens when either of the players are one point away from a win in a match game.
4.5 Do we have the Beaver and Raccoon Concepts? If yes what are they?
We use both the Beaver and the Raccoon at PartyGammon.com. For more details go to the Advanced Rules page.
4.6 What happens if I am disconnected from a table in the middle of a game?
If this happens, our software will automatically try to re-connect you to the Internet, and return you to your board. Ideally, you'll return in time to resume play as if nothing had happened. Find out more about our Disconnection Policy.
4.7 How many disconnect protects are allowed per day?
Every player will be given two disconnect protects per game. However, if we notice that a player is abusing his disconnect protect timer, we will revoke the disconnect protect timer for the player and will bar him from playing any more games.
4.8 If the game is cancelled midway through, how is the winner of the game decided?
If a game is cancelled midway through, the result of the game will be calculated using an winning odds calculator such as BGBLITZ and the respective amounts will be credited to the player's account.

4.9.1 What rake do you charge at your real money tables?

4.10 FREE GAMES

4.10.1 Can I play for fun at PartyGammon.com?
Of course you can! Just download our free software, create an account and, after successfully creating an account just click on the 'Free Money Games' option to play for fun.
4.10.2 What does it cost me to play at the play money tables?
Absolutely nothing! Playing at the play money tables is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with online backgammon. Once you've practiced and gained confidence, we recommend that you try a small buy-in tournament. They're fun, exciting, and affordable.
4.10.3 How many chips do you give me to play with at the play money tables?
We start you with 1,000 chips.

5. Tournaments

5.1 What is a backgammon tournament?
A backgammon tournament is composed of several players who play each other over several knockout rounds. To join a tournament, you must pay a buy-in and a fee. The winner of each round advances to the next round, while the loser is eliminated (single elimination). Knockout matches are played until one player emerges as the tournament winner. Tournaments will be of either static length (match lengths are fixed and remain constant until the final round) or progressive length (the matches become longer as a player advances).
5.2 What are the varieties of Tournaments we have at PartyGammon.com?
There are two types of tournaments:

  • Regular tournaments - these are pre-arranged, with a fixed starting time, which is announced on the site.
  • Sit & Go tournaments - these are available 24/7, and just need the required number of players to be registered in order to begin.
Tournaments are also classified based on the express of the game. They are:

  • Normal tournaments - Each player will have 45 seconds to make their move, and three (3) minutes on the global timer.
  • Fast tournaments - Each player will have 30 seconds to make their move and two (2) minutes on the global timer.
  • Express tournaments - Each player will have 15 seconds to make their move and one (1) minute on the global timer.
5.3 What is the disconnection policy in tournaments?
If a player has been disconnected twice in a match, and has returned to resume the game, a third disconnection will result in the automatic loss of the match. Frequent disconnections, or abuse of the Disconnection Policy, will lead to a warning, and may result in penalties, such as a ban from playing in special tournaments.

6. Bonus and Promotions

6.1 What are bonus codes?
There will be bonus codes that will be used to target certain players besides other generic bonus codes. Players can make a deposit using a bonus code to get an amount (restricted) over and above their deposit.
6.2 What bonuses does PartyGammon.com have to offer?
  • New players get free cash by using a sign up bonus when they make their first purchase using a sign-up bonus.
  • Subsequent purchases are eligible for promotional bonuses and bonuses posted in the newsletter (deposit bonuses).
  • Special offers will be sent by email based on your player status and other factors

6.3 I have a bonus, how do I add it to my account?
Here are the steps to adding a bonus to your account:
  • Log in to your PartyAccount at http://www.partyaccount.com
  • During the deposit process, you will be prompted to enter your bonus code
  • After fulfilling the contingent conditions, the bonus will be added to your account
  • Bonuses given for a certain payment method will be automatically added when that payment method is used.

7. Fairness, security and legal issues

7.1 Do all backgammon sites use the same software?
At PartyGammon.com, we offer the most high-tech and secure software system available anywhere. Our backgammon software was created strictly for PartyGammon.com. No other backgammon site on the web has the same software as PartyGammon.com.
7.2 How can I be sure that all games played at PartyGammon.com are fair and honest?
To learn more about our security, and fair and honest play on PartyGammon.com, please read our Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions. As an example of our integrity, we are one of only a few operators to be awarded with GamCare certification in player protection and social responsibility.
7.3 Sometimes during play, the connection is interrupted or the game slows down. Why is this?
The communication between your machine and our servers has been optimized for the fastest response. However, if you feel that your game is going slow, there are two likely explanations:

  • The players on the table are taking a long time to make their moves.
  • You may not have a good connection to the Internet.
Customer satisfaction is of primary importance to us. We will do everything possible to help you. Contact us and we will assist you directly.

8. Chat

8.1 Do we have the chat at PartyGammon.com and can a chat be blocked? If yes why?
We will have the chat feature for PartyGammon.com where we will monitor the chat of players. Players that do not comply with the chat etiquette will have their chat blocked.
